Repairs at Reading

Left my cosy cabin this morning...

...to be driven along the Thames,

which was as calm as a millpond.
First lock negotiated without ramming the lock gates so I think we'll count that as a success. I ought to say, however, that there was a lock keeper doing all the gate openings and guiding in but I held the rope so I'm still counting it as a success! Sorry, no photos of the lock experience as rope holding must be taken seriously. Apparently!!!
The boat is now moored at the Boatyard near Reading having a few leaky joints and electrical quirkiness sorted out. We may be here some time...

  3. Looks cosy inside, hope you're warm enough. Had any visitors yet? What's the next stop after Reading? xxx

    1. Back at Henley now all systems up and running. The boat is very often too warm! but John is the only one complaining. Julien is coming over today to drive the car back to France tomorrow so he will be our first stop over visitor. There is another boat moored nearby and they have been over for a glass or two of wine, so everything seems fairly civilised! We will be staying here for at least a week while John puts in a new floor. Can't move far at the moment anyway due to lock closures for repairs.

  4. A derelict boat called Vasillian
laid docked near a Reading pavilion.
    The Pughs had a fit,
    when the hull got hit
and sprung a leak by a crocodilian.

    1. There was an old singer called Gerard
Who thought life afloat was "dead 'ard"
      But he had to admit
      After a total re-fit
We could wave goodbye to the boatyard.

This same old Bass singer, de Noord,
      Once said,"Buy a boat? You'll be bored!"
      But he's totally wrong
      It goes like a song
Which we sing loud and clear on board!
